We want an artist to provide an abstract artwork which would make up
the album artwork. We will provide the album to the artists, so that
they may listen through the material and see what sort of feel they
think might fit. Artistic freedom is encouraged. We don't want
photographs of the band members to be included, but for the artwork
theme/feel to be continued throughout the design. Text must also be
placed on the layout, as would be expected for an album. However, the
text will be minimal (album title, track titles, spine text, thanks, production credits), as no lyrics will be included. The layout of the
sleeve is a digipack, which has 4 panels, including the section that holds
the disc. We would also require a design for the disc, consistent with the theme of the artwork. The disc design could be repeated on the panel below the disc (transparent disc holder) We're looking for something cool and abstract, an artwork, rather than a typical band album cover showing the band members holding their instruments.
We will make the layout template available. We are not restricted in terms of the colour requirements of the print, i.e: can do full colour or black and white. The artwork doesn't have to 'match the music' as such, but we will make the album available to the artists in the hope that it might inspire them. We do not want to replicate the style of our previous album covers, and neither do we want the artwork to reflect the name of the band. The.album name is 'Growler Front'.
Based on the lyrical content, we think we'd like something quite dark and moody, but if you have a stand-out concept that you feel would fit, please submit it. We'd also like the design to not have an overly cartoon or rockabilly feel.
All required CD text is included in the attached files.
