I make tabletop, card and board games for parents who play games with their kids. The target audience for this game are children 4 and up with parents of all ages. :)

My new card game about Bean stalks needs art. Most importantly, I'm looking for a fun new way to display the Bean Stalk using strong colors and a cool style. Each of the game's card abilities need to be a living character within the beanstalk, and express what they do within the game play. I am providing the pictures I generated myself for play testing the game with my family and friends. While these pictures worked for play testing, they aren't depicting the living breathing characters I want them to. I am hoping for each of the abilities to be brought to life with their own character. These cards have plain white backgrounds, but I am open to the idea of adding a background as long as it serves to unite the parts and strengthens the theme. There will be no words or numbers or anything on a card besides the art, as this is intended for children who cannot read yet, who will be memorizing the simple pictures to know how a card works. So the art must remain colorful, simple and clearly understood. Each part must be readily identifiable from the next, with no similar in appearance. For Example, the "Rot" cards that are currently represented as some dots to show that the beanstalk isn't healthy enough to grow at the moment. I really want them to look better than dots. There are four unique shapes of beanstalk, including a Straight Stalk, 45 degree angle elbow, a T shaped split, and an end cap. Three of the four shapes can be combined with the seven different abilities that would change how they look. While the end cap has two abilities of its own.
In total, I am looking for a design for my card game's beanstalks and their unique abilities. The cards will likely be 3.5" squares. Each card will be playable in 4 directions so the art would benefit from not having a strict top and bottom. "In case you aren't familiar with bean stalks, they are featured in classic children's literature and have made a comeback in modern movies in recent years. They are giant green plants that erupt from the ground with the speed and strength to thrust an entire house high up into the sky above the clouds." These are the abilities detailed desciptions: 1-Leaf- Power Collector- absorbing the suns rays, gathering resources for the beanstalk 2-Chomper- bites parts off of other 3-Heart Fruit- provides a speed boost 4-Grabbers- takes parts from others 5-Thorns- damages those attacking a beanstalk 6-armor or shielded- protects parts of a beanstalk 7- rot- looks really ugly caps- prevents a beanstalk from growing this direction (previously looked like a flower) 1- hypno cap- confuses enemies and prevents a beanstalk from growing this direction 2- memory cap- reads enemies minds and prevents a beanstalk from growing this direction Try and imagine each part as a unique character whom could move independantly from the others but whom all stack together to make the bean stalk as it rises from the ground. Therefore each part of the beanstalk would have its own face and be its own body. You can even color them independantly. In response to questions: What I need are characters made out of the beanstalk itself, that stack together to make the beanstalk, turning each of the four shapes of the beanstalk into an individual character that has a face and its own figure, yet still is made up of the beanstalk. Please imagine the individual characters who stand on one another and form the beanstalk. The characters needs to be made once in each of the three shapes listed and shown in the design brief. The character also needs to have just one characteristic from the list, not all of them. If a single picture has more than one set of features (for example, both the leaves and the thorns together) then the player will not be able to determine which the card actually is.
