We’re looking for 8-bit inspired Title Art for a new children’s musical we are about to release.
The title art will give the show it’s visual identity and will be used to promote the show. It will also be available to schools who license the show for use on t-shirts, posters, etc.
The musical is called PRESS START!
The story takes place entirely in the world of video games. It’s about what happens when the iconic 1990's video game characters we know and love run out of rings and run out of lives. Desperate, they join with the sidekicks and villains to put on a musical fundraiser to raise enough gold rings to be able to once again play on.
All the music is composed entirely in 8-bit synths reminiscent of the soundtracks of the original Nintendo/Sega consoles.
Although we can't legally use any trademarked characters or images, we take inspiration from the famous Nintendo and Sega characters of the 1990's. For example, our lead characters are "Young Adventurer", "Marco the Plumber", "Princess Pomegranate", "Little Mushroom" and "Spikey Turtle".
The title art should have the text “PRESS START!” as the main focus, large and clear, taking up at least 70% of the image, with additional illustration that surrounds/accents it. Underneath the title is should read in much smaller size “A Beat by Beat Musical".
The whole thing should have an 8-bit pixelated feel but with a modern twist. We're looking for something that is fun, hip, clean, bold, bright and contemporary. We definitely don't want anything too "kiddy", but it should be playful.
Check out the title art attached below as a sample of title art from our other shows.
Possible pixelated imagery to include are:
- green warp pipes
- green hills
- gold rings
- brick rows
The title text itself must be large and clear. If it were printed on a flyer and posted on a wall it should be very clear to read.
Simple is good.
