Over the last year, I worked on the creation of a card game with original and captivating chibi-style characters. This is a game with few rules but highly engaging even for large groups of people.
I am looking for a professional unique style, not an elementary or basic one. It has to be coherent with the graphic design of the game without looking like just a children's game. To help you with that, I attached a few characters designs, the final logo and the actual cards' back (WIP).
All the characters I have right now are Middle Ages inspired but the game will also have "expansions" set in different historical periods. The cards from each expansion must look like they come from the same game, so you can change textures, the boxes’ and frame's shape or add a thematic element but the position of the main elements (title, character, description…) must stay the same.
I need at least 2 designs. One must be Medieval, and you may choose which ones you prefer among:
- Futuristic / Sci-Fi
- Mythological (Greek deities)
The background of the characters on each card will be of a different colour according to their category and they will have an icon on the top left corner to identify their category. There are 5 categories: attack (red background around the character), special attack (purple), defense (blue/light blue), support (green) and super cards (yellow). The frame and the boxes of the same theme (Medieval, Sci-Fi, etc.) don’t change their colors.
These are the elements that must be considered for the design:
CARD TYPE ICON:
On the top left corner there must be a spot for the symbol that identifies the type of the card (if it helps you, think about those typical spaces where there's the "cost" of the card).
The card name should be located on the top center of the card and must be clearly visible. Some card names are pretty long (like "Crossbowman") so you have to create a design that let writing the name without being forced to scale dimensions.
Each card has an additional identification like "RANGED ATTACK" and up to 3 lines text that explains the effects of the card. The text must be easy to read so you should avoid transparencies in the background of the box.
FULL FIGURE CHARACTER
Characters must not be covered by boxes or frames. It's important that they can be seen entirely, with full body. The frame should not be too heavy, so the character and the color of the background will be clearly visible.
Please, do not use templates and avoid creating something too similar to already existing games or using assets that could require a license of use or additional payments. If possible, insert a free-to-use font that suits the style of the cards. Source files must be of high quality and the design should have as many layers as possible for further editing.
Cards will be printed in poker size (63.5mm X 88.9mm or 2,5 inches X 3,5 inches), so the design must follow the rules that apply to physical printed card games. The card category (its colour) should not be visible when seen on profile (this is to avoid cheating while playing).
Let your creativity flow: you are welcome to present any ideas you may have. I am eager to see your creations!
