I am trying to design a tattoo for my wife as a surprise present. I have some ideas, but need inspiration/help in finishing the design.
My wife is turning 28. Two years ago, she had her mother pass away from cancer (a brain tumor), then my wife herself was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) two months later. She went through months of chemo treatments, and we are happy to say she has been cured for 2 years.
The tattoo design is inspired from this experience, and it will be a birthday/wedding anniversary/2 year cancer survivor present all wrapped up in one.
She wants to tattoo to have a whimsical feel, while communicating the concept of rebirth/renewal. The base of the tattoo is a tree, with whimsical filigree/doodles, and birds flying out of the top of the tree. The tattoo will be about 10 inches in height, on her upper arm, so significant detail is good.
It would be great to see both black & white and color designs. She also likes impressionist designs.
Designs should have a hand-drawn/illustrated feel. Please don't use clip art. No-one wants a clip-art tattoo...
I've attached my current sketches and some images that I like. The first 2 images are sketches that i've done. I want the filigree to fill the entire tree, and to experiment with different types of filigree, doodles and leaves. I'd also like to experiment with different trunk widths and styles. Also experiment with different birds. Even experiment with various styles! The other images are other tattoos for inspiration.
Now go crazy! Thanks!
