This is an illustration for one page of a board book of "first hiking words" for babies/young toddlers. There are nine spreads in the book. One page of each spread contains an illustration of a hiking object, a label for the object and a text bubble accompanied by a doodle of a baby using the page's object (see attached demo page). The other page of the spread is a black and white photo of a baby/toddler interacting with the object. For this contest, the page to be designed should contain an illustrated pair of hiking boots in full color. The text "boots" should appear under the illustration. Also on the page, there should be a text bubble containing the question, "Where do your boots go?" Next to the text should be a small doodle of a gender neutral baby trying on a boot. Everything should be in color except for the text. I envision a clean, white background for the page, but could possibly be open to something more colorful if it does not make the page look cluttered.
-Page should be 6 inches x 6 inches with 3mm bleed on all sides
-Adobe Illustrator vector file
-No stock illustrations
-A doodle style of drawing is fine for the baby next to the text bubble, but not the main object of the page (hiking boots)
-No preference on font, except it should be royalty free and easy to read
-Attached demo page is intended only to give a rough idea of the desired concept (actual images should be in color and page should have a more appealing layout)
-FYI: Text bubble with doodle baby will appear on the page in the printed version of the book, but will "pop up" for e-book format.
-Other attached images show styles of "doodle babies" and illustration styles that I like. (yes, I realize that the food graphic has nothing to do with hiking, but I liked the simple, bold style of the images)
This book is part of a series of board books under development. Winning illustrator will potentially be asked to design the other 8 illustrations for the book, as well as the cover and possibly even the other books in the series.
