I would like you to illustrate one page of a short children's book I wrote for my daughter. The story is written in Hebrew so if the wording doesn't make sense to you, that would be the reason.
In general, the book is about Yuval asking questions that do not have answers because they are not realistic. For example; How can a lady bug carry so many circles on her back? Are they not too heavy? Do they melt when it is really hot outside? Or, do brown cows give chocolate milk? and if they are really cold can you milk them for ice cream?
The page I would like to be illustrated: The line in the book says: Who helps the lion comb his maine if he has many knots? And does the lioness envy his maine? (It sounds better in Hebrew because it rhymes).
I would like the drawing to show a lion that looks flustered and frustrated with the knots, he has a comb in his palm and he looks at it in a hopeless look. The lioness would be on the side looking at the lion with envy. The background should have a savanna feel to it.
In terms of art style, I love watercolor with black border (ink drawing with watercolor painting). It feels soft and calming, just right for little kids and their parents. In terms of color palette, I would like to have pastel colors because they have that soft, baby feeling. I would like the drawings to be happy and funny; fun to look at but also make you smile. Artistic but childish at the same time.
I would like the art to be in Illustrator vector format or in ultra high res Photoshop PSD
Here are a few images that show a range of that style:
