We are building the brand and website for a webmaster, SEO, and e-commerce strategy company based in Chicago. A crucial part of our first impression to clients will be the illustration that lives on our website’s landing page. We would like the following collection of terms and services to be arranged in a web or with bold/size/color, so that the relationships between services and cluttered consulting jargon can at least look like they make more sense to potential clients. Many of the following terms relate to each other, and we would like you to take a stab at arranging them so that at a minute glance, a visitor may understand in a visually pleasing way the very general relationship between the words.
PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to include the definitions. We will implement a ‘hover over’ feature on the finished illustrations that will have definitions pop up when a user interacts with it.
Please take our current development site style into consideration when designing the illustration: http://www.christaylorgroup.com/ Please also note the logo attached (and in the top left of this website) when considering style. We encourage 2 new fonts to be used in the illustration, ones that compliment our minimal, clean, and creative goal. We would love to take these 2 new fonts that you choose and apply them to our website, too.
This style is similar in feeling to what we're looking for. Mix of stylized, colors, size, and illustrations to bring the terms to a creative and visually pleasing new light for potential clients:
Below are the terms (3 main category terms and their sub-terms) you will use in your graphics illustration. The definitions are there for you to help arrange the terms; again, please do not include the entire definitions in your design. Alluding to definitions and illustrative assistance is great and encouraged, however.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) / Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
SEO Content - The content (text, images, videos) on a website is the primary impression a search engine has of the subject matter on your website and its relevance to a particular keyword search. SEO content is what brings people to your pages, while unique and quality information is what maintains this trust and connection for long-term traffic and business success.
Keywords - Clickable tags that categorize and help explain the content of a page, usually listed at the top or bottom of an online post. They act most powerfully as hashtags within websites, but can also influence organic placement on search engine results pages (SERP).
Meta Data - The meta description and keywords of a page make up its meta data. Although this content is sometimes only visible to web crawlers, keywords can be made public on a page for tagging purposes and meta descriptions can populate the short content underneath links on search results pages. When meta descriptions are written by SEO experts, brand trust and page authority improve and site visibility / organic traffic will increase.
Page Authority - How well your page performs on search engine rankings is its page authority. To have high page authority, your site must contain quality SEO as well as informative and unique content. Backlinks, site juice, and brand trust also contribute to page authority.
Structured Data - Ever notice that searching for a store or actor on Google will give you basic and important content before suggesting links? These summary or content boxes are types of structured data, which help your brand’s image and trust for users first learning about it. We optimize your site from every angle of structured data, ensuring a positive first impression of your business.
White Hat SEO - Also known as ethical SEO, white hat SEO focuses on improving the experience for human audiences in order to produce long-term results and conversion. This is in contrast to Black Hat SEO tactics, which attempt to trick search engine algorithms with keyword stuffing and irrelevant content, leading to the destruction of brand trust and a site’s banishment from rankings.
ANA - Our own web crawler, unique and customized for each client, built to help us see your website just like Google and make improvements accordingly.
Backlink - Also known as inbound or incoming links, backlinks are hyperlinks from an external website back to your site. Most search engine algorithms place significant importance on the quality, relevance, and number of websites linking to your own. We can help with backlink strategy to improve overall site link juice.
Link Juice - Link juice refers to power passed to your site via external or internal links and backlinks. Keep in mind that this power alludes to quality over quantity — only relevant and helpful linking will keep this traffic juice flowing.
Indexing - When a search engine ‘crawls’ websites to bring results to users, it looks for pages that contain relevant information about the search. After examining the content and data of your site, the search engine collects, parses, and stores your site pages, which are now easy to deliver to all users seeking information on your site. We can choose which of your site’s pages should be indexed or not, so that page competition and irrelevant pages do not hinder your site’s visibility.
Web Crawler - A web crawler is often called a ‘bot’. It is the tool that ‘crawls’ websites, usually by search engines for the purpose of indexing sites. Ana is our own bot, freshly programmed for every client to personalize web analysis and improve the structure and performance of your site.
Domain Authority - A site with ample link juice, strategic indexing, quality content, brand trust, and a white hat philosophy is well on its way to ranking high on search engine results. These sites are also referred to as having domain authority. We work to improve yours with every project for your site.
Organic Traffic - Organic traffic refers to all visitors who encounter your site without the help of paid advertising. Improving placement on search engine results is the best way to increase organic traffic. We focus on significantly increasing organic traffic and conversions, which affects the sustainable success of your business in the long-term much more than advertising efforts.
Brand Trust - This refers to the relationship that search engines such as Google have with your site. Factors like frequency of content updates, traffic, time spent on pages, SEO, and overall site performance all affect the placement of your site on search engines, therefore brand trust is very important for a sustainable online business or revenue-generating content site.
Usability - The most visited and effective websites are simple, visually pleasant, easy-to-navigate, and informative. The experience your site provides for users directly impacts its search engine rankings. Websites that people like to use perform better, and our design experts and services can help transform your site into the most enjoyable experience possible.
Conversion - The desired actions visitors make on your web pages, such as making purchases, clicking on advertisements, or subscribing to email newsletters. SEO may drive the traffic to your site, but conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies take that traffic and turn it into something useful.
Flow Visualization - The analytics tool that helps you see how your visitors move about your site. If we notice that many users leave after only 10 seconds on your homepage, we will modify the content design and usability for an improved visitor experience. If users spend most time on one page or near one feature, we can then modify the site to amplify whatever proves most engaging. We will help you learn about your customers and site visitors with flow visualization and other metrics resources, as well as our own analytics bot, ANA.
