Primary, minimalist mark for clothing brand

VOIDE offers quality boxer shorts and loungewear absent the high cost of named brands (Armani, Calvin Klein, etc). With a future-facing design orientation, based on functional minimalism, VOIDE seeks to depart from cliched luxury brands. In this logomark, on the one hand I insist on clean legibility of the brand name. No embellishment — direct and clear. The graphical mark is as simple as it can be. A triangle to echo V, and an empty circle to echo void. Primary shapes, with a hint of the esoteric.

Primal rabbit for a publishing company

This was somewhat whimsical. The publisher deals with historical as well as contemporary fiction, and my mind jumped back around 200,000 years. I was thinking about the primary motion shapes of a rabbit, and arrived to this, which reflects a kind of aesthetic one might have seen in cave paintings. The client went in a different direction, but I like this aesthetic and wish I could experience the kind of visual outlook that represented reality, at the dawn of the age of man, in this manner.

The client wanted a design and icon for the brand about moving and changing the world from within. It needed to have an alchemist style in a rough warrior motif. The overall design is built on primal shapes and symbolism. The contrast of the alchemy symbol and the modern type creates a contemporary design for an ancient symbol. The overall design was based on a brushstroke style to give it an organic feel and mood.
