"The St. Clair" is an 18-room boutique hotel in a renovated historic building (built in the 1880s) in downtown Frankfort, Kentucky. The interior design is contemporary and European-inspired, with traditional materials like wood floors, pressed tin ceilings, and historic trim. Rooms will feel like little apartments/pied-a-terres, with full kitchens, living spaces, and spacious bedrooms. The hotel will appeal to travelers on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, a series of distilleries and experiences highlighting Kentucky's signature spirit. It will also serve as a home away from home for legislators and lobbyists during the Kentucky legislative session (Frankfort is Kentucky's capital city). The hotel will have a first floor restaurant under the same name (The St. Clair) or Cafe at The St. Clair. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and small-plate dinners, with a brasserie-inspired interior design. The restaurant will combine the traditional European influences of the hotel interiors with the "1950's lunch counter" of small-town American cities. On the third floor of the building, a rooftop deck will allow restaurant customers and hotel guests to enjoy birds-eye views of historic downtown Frankfort while sipping on bourbon cocktails. This is relaxing getaway, while providing a fun environment for visitors to the Bourbon Trail. Please do not think historic boring, but historic architecture with a reinvented contemporary use, which is stylish and interesting. The hotel and restaurant are located on St. Clair Street, a brick-paved street lined with trees, historic shops and restaurants, and a historic movie theater. The street was named for Revolutionary War General Arthur St. Clair, a Scottish-American who was a friend of the original city planner for Frankfort, KY. Variations on the colors blue and orange are present in the interior design and inspiration - light blue for the color of the Kentucky summer sky, and hues of orange ranging from tangerine to cognac, reminiscent of the color of Kentucky bourbon in a glass. The hotel and restaurant need to appeal to locals as well as tourists, and the branding and logo should feel as though it has always been part of the building's history. The branding should mix the historic feel of the building, with the new modern use of the boutique hotel, and appeal to a discerning traveler. "The St. Clair" is the first hotel in a group of properties being developed as the "Boutique Bourbon Collection". Each property will have a unique brand while fitting into the overall themes and colors of Kentucky culture, bourbon heritage, and hues of blue and orange. Within the family of hotels, "The St. Clair" is the sister of the family - softer, more feminine, more embellished and ornate, distinguished but not stuffy.

We would like to test different spellings of the name - either "The St. Clair" or "The Saint Clair" are acceptable design options. "Frankfort, Kentucky" can be used as a secondary element of the logo, but is not required to be incorporated.
