The Bay Ed Fund is a community investment fund. Our purpose is to sustainably transform public education systems to prepare all students to thrive as adults in the Bay Area. We do this by catalyzing families, communities, teachers, district leaders, and philanthropy to come together, co-design a vision for students and implement proven strategies for change. We commit to providing a community the resources to have a deeply inclusive and authentic co-design process, grounded in the experiences of the most marginalized students and families. We do this by giving grants to families, community organizations, and school systems, and by investing in capacity-building partnerships with other organizations where needed. Our target audiences are communities, their school systems, and funders. We primarily work directly with four stakeholder groups: empowered students and families, aligned school system leaders and teachers, coalitions of nonprofits and government agencies who are committed to supporting this work within their communities, and philanthropy. Central to how we approach our work is the belief that collective leadership is essential for impactful systemic changes. We seek to invest heavily in relationship and trust building through coalition building and shared visioning work. This is a new and innovative approach to improving the educational experience and outcomes for students.

UPDATE 4/19/22: Thank you all for your work so far and for your impressive logo submissions. We have clarified what we're looking for in a logo and our brand identity, and wanted to give you feedback for the final round: The logo should be 3 colors maximum, and more minimalist than heavy. Think more of a logo for a high end professional business. The point of our organization is to bring people together and to be a guiding point, like a north star, for our community. This logo will be used in a variety of mediums. Please make sure it's clear enough to be read on something as small as a pencil, as well as in black and white. The use of negative space and light lines is encouraged but not necessary. Key words to guide your process: education, unity, connections, professional, philanthropy, north star, map, compass, guidance, movement, clarity. Please reach out if you have any questions during the process. We can't wait to see your final submissions! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In regards to logo styling, we lean towards modern, simple, humble, and inspiring/energizing. We’ve provided a deck that has some additional context for our work, as well as a stakeholder group visual that might be helpful (slide 5 in the deck). We’ve attached a sketch that might be helpful (“logo idea”). We’re intrigued by the idea of a visual representation of four groups coming together around a table/co-designed vision. If pursuing this approach, it would ideally look like a star, not a flower, and if possible would visually signify forward progress/momentum. This is just a guiding document meant for inspiration (we are not married to this design), we are also interested in any original ideas not based on the visual of people coming around a table. We’ve also included a document that includes the colors and fonts we are currently using. This is similarly only meant to provide you with some context of what we've worked with so far, but feel free to use whatever colors and fonts you see fit.
