Stema is a non-profit research group working to improve health in disadvantaged communities around the world. Currently, there is a 'global health' system comprised of many organisations like the WHO, USAID, the Gates Foundation etc, for profit companies etc, as well as many smaller orgs on the local and national level. They fund a lot of health spending in disadvantaged communities around the world. Our academics work in the field, as well as on theory relating to global health. We have identified some problems with the current approach to global health: - Top down approach which means local people aren't empowered or consulted on what is done in their community - Lack of available health data in these communities - Poor decision making - failure to take into account existing local health systems and resources - Failure to understand the local community as a system (e.g. a road may have health benefits- it's not just about medicines/doctors etc). - Resource waste - billions spent but still many lack access to healthcare STEMA is pioneering new tools and approaches aimed at changing this: - We run workshops in the field in locations from Kenya to the Amazon, working in consultation with local people to identify the most effective health interventions in their community - We are packaging this as a toolkit for other organisations to use - Using advances in data and AI to predict local health metrics based on smartphone photos or satellite images - Using mathematical modelling to help people identify the most effective potential health interventions in their area You can see more on stema.org What we need: - We'd like to see proposals to update our logo - We need guidance on colors, fonts and imagery Ultimately we also want to create print and digital assets to go with the logo and imagery. These would include eg. letterhead, document templates for whitepapers, and if the designer has the right experience we also need to create templates for powerpoints/pitch decks. But we can start with the logo and brand guide.

UPDATE: Hi everyone, Just some public feedback on designs so far and more info on the brief These are some concepts/values which are important to stema which might be interesting to reflect visually: - Health - Sustainability (not just environmental - this also means that we sustainable health solutions which last). - Community - our solutions are designed to work at the local community level and help communities to be healthier - Agency / Empowerment - we are aiming at giving agency to communities to improve their own health and make their own decisions In terms of the designs we have seen so far - we prefer the simpler/cleaner logos without too complex shapes. Some are very complicated designs and we have been rejecting those. Hope this helps we're excited to keep giving feedback on your designs!
