Hello, my name is Sergio and I am coffee nerd and a coffee lover.
About four years ago I was immersed in the world of coffee. In South Africa I had my first contact with a local small roaster and was immediately enthusiastic. During my stay of several months in South and West Africa I also passed various coffee plantations. There I took also different kinds of beans home. At home I loved preparing the coffee on my Bialetti. At this point curiosity gripped me and I dipped myself in to the world of third wave coffee.
Through research on the Internet and on the social media, I have prepared the necessary knowledge for myself. Since travelling is also a passion of mine, I came across Europe and thus enjoyed the pleasure of many small roasters in Europe partly also outside of Europe. Three years ago the time came when I bought my first professional screen carrier machine and from then the fire for the perfect espresso was really kindled. Over several years, many city trips, visits of many different roasters and third wave coffees I have tested 100 of different roasting recipes, single origins and blends. Through several visits of some coffee festivals I had gotten to know and tried out new things from the scene again and again. Meanwhile I have a more or less gastro-suitable equipment at home. There counts a La Marzocco GS3, a Mahlkönig K30 Twin, Acaia Lunar, Pullman Tamper as well as several tools to prepare filter coffee in different ways and also to produce cold brewed coffee.
What good is this equipment if I don't have access to good coffee beans? There are so many small class roasters in Switzerland and many more in Europe and all over the world. Probably it's not just me, but many other people in Switzerland and around the world. Not every coffee freak has a micro-roasting shop with exquisite coffee beans at their neighborhood. Also, not every roaster has an online shop or perfect opening hours to purchase specialty coffee. With my business idea I would like to work against this conditions.
SEMO COFFEE should become a platform where everyone can buy specialty coffee from selected micro-roasters. As a first step, roasters from Switzerland will be on the radar. As soon as the platform has settled for a while, roasters within Europe will also be included. It is also planned that various tools for preparing coffee of all kinds will complete the range. The main tool in our shop will be the one we are currently developing. It is a two in one tool for a barista in a proper coffee place or for a enthusiastic home barista.
In close cooperation with a selected roaster, a signature roasting with the name SEMO will also be carried out. This roast as well as other roasts from different roasters will then be sold. The SEMO COFFEE project will start with a small but precisely analyzed range in cooperation with about five to eight roasters. After a successful start, the cooperation with several roasters will take place and the offer will be enlarged. Roasters outside Switzerland will also be considered.
If the rush is so great that a larger space is needed, the concept should be adapted a little. The goal would be a room with storage space and space for packing and shipping. Furthermore, a physical sales shop with an integrated coffee shop is to be aimed too. With this a coffee tasting can be made before the costumer will buy his favorite beans.
