Our mission is to make aboalarm the place to go for any contract cancellation in Germany. Cancelling a contract (e.g. mobile plan, insurance) is a real struggle for consumers here in Germany. Providers try to lock you up for as long as 24 months and make the cancellation process as difficult as possible (e.g. they hide the contact information, they only allow you to send your cancellation by fax). aboalarm makes the cancellation of a contract dead easy. This is our vision since we started aboalarm back in 2008. Since then, it was a long and successful journey on which we handled more than 14 million cancellations for our users, what makes us the market leader in this segment with 80% market share in Germany.
OUR MISSION AND NAME
The core of our success is our flagship product, a cancellation service, which enables consumers to cancel, revoke and manage their contracts with over 20.000 providers such as mobile plans, Internet access providers or car insurance.
Cancelling contracts using our webservice aboalarm.de or one of our award-winning apps for Android, iPhone and iPad is quick, reliable and works like this:
1. Choose the provider of the contract you want to cancel, type in your data like name and address and send your cancellation.
2. We take care of the delivery, send you a delivery confirmation via email and give you a cancellation guarantee for the majority of terminations.
3. If you run into a dispute with the provider we cover the legal fees.

The name aboalarm — written in the corporate font Open Sans — should be explained by the logo and transport the level of trust needed to attract the appropriate clientele. „aboalarm“ is a neologism for the German word for subscription „Abonnement“ and „Alarm“. “abo” is an abbreviation for “Abonnement”.
ABOUT OUR USERS
Around one-third of them are returning customers. That is a good percentage for a non-subscription service like ours. By offering our cancellation service only in Germany almost all users are from Germany. Over half of them are male and between 25 and 45 years old.
At aboalarm we center everything around the users and giving them the help that they need with the cancellation of their contracts. The company is defined by our open culture — an environment that rewards creative problem solving and rapid decision making. We have values we act on everyday: courage, creativity, responsibility, team spirit, and and of course client focus. And our new logo should reflect this with a clear message: aboalarm is a company that cares with its fast and easy-to-use services. We believe that a logo is the quickest way for your company to express what it is and what it can offer.
We want to redesign our logo, in order to make it more intuitive and more easily recognizable. As our current logo only contains text, it makes it difficult for people to grasp why our business exists in the first place. People should get a direct sense about our service. And our logo is to our company what a face is to a person and it’s hard to memorize facts about a person when you only know their name but you haven’t seen their face. Therefore our new logo should express aboalarm’s traits and values to our key audiences — 25- to 45-year-old working adults in Germany.
Also the new logo should serve another purpose: to stand apart from our main competitors, Volders and Check24. While Volder’s design is cold and Check24’s screaming, we want to send a signal that we are approachable and sincere. We are there and stand-in for the consumers, even if they they have problems with big companies. To be consistent and unique is clearly a strength of a logo.
We want something fresh, so you do not need to update our current logo. Design-wise, the logo should be clean, elegant and easily implemented. Bold, block capital letters typed with the CAPS LOCK KEY are out. It should not yell at people but invite them. We want a logo that is so simple that everybody could draw it and interpret it themselves. Simplicity is key.
The new logo should be 2D and vector based. It should not only be scalable to numerous sizes, but also work in the color of our company: orange (#F25C00). It should also look great in black (#000000) and white (#FFFFFF).
The logo should appear on various branding materials. Think about how the logo functions in context, as it must work on print and digital, it should be comfortable on email and letter, on landing pages and flyers, on banner ads and textile merchandise.
The files we will require are: .ai (Illustrator), .eps (Illustrator), .psd (Photoshop) and .png.
