Apertis is a large free and open source software project. Apertis is intended to be a complete computer operating system for automobile use.
With the introduction of touchscreens and advanced human-to-machine interfaces in cars, modern and feature-rich software capabilities are required in cars.
You can find out more about Apertis here: https://apertis.org
This would be the first logo for Apertis. The project is being announced for the first time.
Where does the name comes from?
Apertis is the combination of two words: the Latin word “Aperio” and Swedish “Expertis”.
Aperis means open (adjective).
Expertis means expertise (noun).
So a loose translation could be “open expertise”.
Apertis is an independent open source project. For the time being, there are two companies that are primarily contributing to Apertis: Collabora Limited and Robert Bosch GmbH. The number of companies contributing is expected to grow.
UPDATE (4/7): please make sure not to create any logo mark that looks too similar to any existing established logos. particularly logos used in the automotive industry (car makers, equipment companies, etc...). Thank you, -Guy
