The Network is an initiative of public interest by civil society organizations and international social movements, including peasants, fisherfolk, pastoralists, indigenous peoples, and agricultural workers.
The Network opens a space for dialogue and mobilization of its members to hold States accountable for their obligation to realize the right to food and nutrition. It supports the struggles of social movements and civil society groups that, as a result of standing up for their rights, may face repression, violence, and criminalization.
The Network tries to reach out to other civil society organizations and social movements, as well as academia, to ensure a better organization/management of their struggles. The network also aims to raise visibility of current violations of the right to food and nutrition worldwide, sometimes unknown by the general public.
