The Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department maintains outdoor parks, playgrounds, lakes, green spaces, trails and other natural and recreational facilities and leading activities for visitors at parks and other recreational facilities. Parks and recreation organizes activities for children, young adults, senior citizens, families of all ethnic backgrounds as well as the disabled.
Parks and recreation provides social opportunities and encourages people to interact with one another to make sure activities are enjoyable and productive. These activities can include sport leagues and tournaments, golf, health and fitness, aquatics, arts and crafts, cultural activities, music, drama, special events and other social activities.
Parks and recreation programs take place in after-school indoor recreation centers, senior citizen community centers and facilities, outdoor parks, lakes, playgrounds, trails, ballfields and camps. Programs and activities usually occur in large or small groups, and depending upon the weather and the interests of various groups and available facilities, they may be indoor as well as outdoors.
The department maintains both passive and active recreational facilities along with maintaining native natural areas and green spaces. The department provides 18 different park locations providing a variety of amenities for the public to use including, tennis courts, baseball/softball fields, soccer and football fields, numerous playgrounds, paved trails, aquatics, shelters, and community centers featuring fitness opportunities, basketball, volleyball, soccer and walking/jogging tracks.
The community prides itself on being an inclusive family oriented community with several recreational and sporting activities for everyone of all ages and ethnicities to participate in.
