Designing a logo for the state sporting association for the sport of lawn bowls in NSW. Mens only association. It's the oldest bowling association in the world, but we want to update our logo making it more modern, futuristic, fun, popular. Our target audience is males, especially 30-40+ age group.

We are keen to see the pictorial mark work on its own, that is, it easily identifies the sport of bowls without having to use the actual words 'Bowls' and 'NSW'.
The colours are not mandatory but we would like to see them considered/used as they are the colours of the state of NSW.
Bowls in Australia is seen as an old mans game, however we want this logo to help us change that. We want to attract a younger audience (age 30-40 group).
When designing the logo, use Bowls NSW (not the words New South Wales).
We have also attached the current logo for Bowls NSW. The element of this logo that we like is the 'O' in the word 'Bowls' and how it represents a lawn bowl. The idea is you could bring out the image of the 'O' and use it as an icon on its own to be the logo. It's not achieving its purpose/working. We would like to see some different variants of that but don't focus too much on it.
