Update: We are getting many logos that are purely hop focused and could be used for any brewery. This is great in the cases where there is something UNIQUE, minimalist, and provides brand identity, but be careful not to over use it. Also, really looking for that one unique and CLEVER logo that really encompasses the meaning of the word "full" or something with our name. Do not be bashful in coming up with new and exciting brand identifying designs. We are really keeping an open mind at this point! If you have something that you think really rocks, we want to see it! I have updated the examples (lower right). Look at their packaging as well as that will be the next step for us.
We a new brewery looking for a logo. The name of the brewery is Full Nelson Brewing (FNB for short). We are based in Portland, Oregon, so feel free to do a bit of research about the city and surrounding areas like Mt. Hood and potentially incorporate that into your design. We are downtown, so we want to shy away from anything too outdoor centric. We do NOT want to see every logo incorporate the same style, just implement a mountain or hop if you have something that you think is interesting or unique. We want to request that submissions try to create something that gives the logo brand identity and not something that is just a hop and our brewery name. Logos do NOT have to use hops.
Overall design: Simple, classy, minimalist, and modern are aspects we like, but do want to keep it fun.
Color: It would be awesome to do something with color for use online and on shirts. High contrast (but at most a few colors) might be interesting and it would be cool to see a few different options. Keeping that in mind, it is of utmost importance that the logo also look good on screen printed or laser engraved/etched glasses. To summarize, logos must work well in monochrome, so it would be good to use color in such a way that when the logo is in monochrome it still recognizable.
Ingredients in beer are: hops, barley, water, and yeast. This can be Googled to find images for inspiration, but if you would like to incorporate them, try to make them more simple modern and not ultra realistic.
Things to avoid: While Full Nelson is also a wrestling move, we do not want it in the logo. When thinking about the word "full", think of it as continuous or cyclical, not the wrestling move. Also, we do NOT want to see barrels or beer incorporated into the logo.
Hopefully this gives you a bit of direction. Do not hesitate to reach out if you want more detail.
After the contest, we would like to work with the designer to generate a label.
Good luck and cheers!
