Home Energy Inc
(LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Note that Home Energy is a home construction company - not a electric utility company. Many of the designs submitted in the contest so far appear to be better for an electric utility - not a construction company. 6 Aug 9:30am EDT)
Home Energy is a residential construction company serving the suburbs north of Boston, MA, USA. The origins of the 30-year-old company are in remodeling existing homes to improve energy efficiency. Today, the company is a full-service residential construction team working on both new homes and remodeling for all purposes - but still incorporating all of the team's experience in energy-efficient construction.
In this era of global warming, it is important for all homeowners to make sure their homes use as little energy as possible for heating, hot water, and air conditioning - reducing their "carbon footprint" both to help save the planet, as well as to reduce their own heating / cooling costs. Home Energy can provide both the consulting and construction help needed for homeowners.
At the same time, it is important to make your home a happy place to live. Home Energy has its own design capabilities, as well as a team of partner architects it can use to help homeowners incorporate design and architecture to make their home a place they are proud of, and happy to live in.
Home Energy's customers are nearly all residential homeowners owning single family homes. There are few condominium owners or business customers.
The company services customers in the suburbs north of Boston. The New England area is filled with traditional colonial-style, and Cape Cod style homes on 1+ acre lots. The customers are in a middle-to-higher income bracket. Most are white collar professionals, and about both adults work in about 1/2 of the customer households served by the company.
Design constraints:
- Prefer to have somewhat stylized text of company name as focal point of the design, so that name can be used independently of any image, and still be distinct
- However, it would still be good (though not required) to have some form of line-art image that (also) can be used independent of the name, and be a iconic form (e.g. used on trucks, job site signs, etc.)
- (Example: see http://tocci.com. Note how black square with dot is simple, notable iconic form, and yet the name is simple, slightly stylized, and can be used on its own and still be notable. Update: DO NOT simply riff on the Tocci square in proposals; I mention Tocci only to illustrate typography vs. iconic treatment.)
- Max two color logo.
- Design ideas must also be shown in, and function well in B&W or greyscale (and final delivery must include B&W versions on both black and white backgrounds)
Final delivery in at _least_ EPS form; strongly preferred to be delivered in .ai (Adobe Illustrator) form.
