Prince of Peace is a Christian church in Thousand Oaks, California. Our target audience is really anyone and everyone in our community. It is an aging congregation which we are trying to energize by connecting with younger families. We're hoping a new logo (they've never had one) will be the start of a whole new look and feel to this ministry. (Please see updated final comments below.)

Color doesn't really matter to me at this point since that can be easily changed once we've selected the logo we want. So feel free to use any color/combo you'd like!

Here's the challenge I see both with what I've described and the designs I've seen so far. We are in a very ritzy area in SoCal and so I'm initially drawn to the fancy country club looking designs. But then I start thinking about all the mediums on which we hope to print, distribute and incorporate our logo. I'm hoping that our logo becomes the thing our community recognizes us by. So that question is, can the logo stand on its own and be recognized without the words 'prince of peace'? For that, I think you need simple and unique. So, that's where I'm torn. I like the fancy looking ones because they look nice on a computer screen. But are they practical for future implementation? I'm not sure.
I so desperately want an oak tree in the design because it will connect us with the most recognizable symbol of our community. Again, I don't know how you make an oak tree into a simple, unique logo. Good luck!
