360 Paradigm is a blog and life philosophy.
Maybe you have read blogs and books about happiness or maybe even practiced meditation. I know I have. There are great resources (360 Paradigm Book List) available for how to become more mindful, and how to quiet your thoughts in order that you may find happiness in each and every moment. That's great, but I am a seriously driven and ambitions and I feel the most alive when I am pursuing the next goal, milestone, or accomplishment. This blog is not a how to guide for performing some mythical masterful balancing act. This blog is a collection of my own personal experiences in a quest to maximize life. Along the way I will take you with me on exploratory journeys though attempts at finding flow, meditation, stoicism, and the art of saying no so that you can succeed at what you at yes to, just to name a few. My hope is that through my experiences nuggets of knowledge, truth, wisdom, or insanity will emerge that will help you in some way on your own journey. At the very least this blog is an outlet for me as there is no format that makes me crystallize my thoughts more than writing for public consumption, yet another rabbit hole that we will venture down.
What is the 360 Paradigm? For a long time it was just a URL that I owned and did not know what to do with, but sure did like it. Finally after some deep, and some not so deep, periods of introspection it dawned on me. I have never been a believer in work life balance. First of all I will spend 80% or more of my time working, at least between the ages of 21 and ?, nothing about that equation says balance. What work life balance always ended up meaning for me was finding ways to reduce the amount of time that I spend working so that I could increase the amount of time that I have "free". That is all good and well, but that brings me to the the second problem. Yes it is a sickness, I enjoy working. Is work life balance just a loose/loose proposition and a road map to perpetual frustration? This is where the light bulb started to emit a faint glow. I don't want to find work life balance, I want to cut all of the red tape, break out of every box, and defy every preconceived notion, I want to live MY life. Great!...what the hell does that mean? That is the beginning of the ongoing journey to the 360 Paradigm, and a personalized life view, plan, and yes happiness.
