Using innovative new materials to slow melting on the arctic ice caps, Ice911’s solution acts like emergency first aid, slowing the arctic ice cap melt while the world transitions to clean energy and removes excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Our eco-friendly materials boost the reflectivity of ice and water so the ice or water absorbs less heat, an approach that dramatically reduces the rate of melting or evaporation in field tests. Even a small delay in the melt will save large volumes of climate-stabilizing ice.
Our safe materials are essentially tiny glass spheres that look like white sand or small necklace beads (and eventually degrade into sand). Sprinkled on ice, snow and water, they help ice last longer in the spring and summer sun. The hollow spheres float, are breathable (so they don’t suppress evaporative cooling), and wettable. We plan to apply them in specific, strategic locations. To limit unexpected harm, the materials can be removed or covered if necessary.
