The site is named after Apollo, the Greek god of knowledge.
We'd like a logo with both icon and text. Writing lends itself to lots of icons - pen, quill, book, reading glasses, pad of paper, and we're not settled on any one icon yet, though a feather quill or fountain pen are our favourites of the icons we've seen elsewhere.
Being a site for authors, we think a "handwriting" style font (or actual handwriting) would appeal to our market.
Most likely, the logo will be displayed in a lighter coloured area (see screenshot), but we'll likely choose something that also works well on a dark background (with colours inverted, for example).
We've attached the logo we've been using in development, which is pretty close to what we want, but we don't own the feather icon. The font is "Dancing Script" from Google Fonts.
Finally, we really like the idea of an icon formed of a rocket-shape made up of writing implements. But we're not sure that would work well at logo size ...
