Programmers hold hackathons to quickly build and improve software, so why can’t marketers do the same to accelerate success? Marketing Growth Hackathon TM is a workshop designed to enable organizations to plan faster, experiment more efficiently and adapt constantly to accelerate success.
This Workshop as a Service (WaaS) product is often conducted in-person by representatives of PR 20/20 and our clients (which are usually private companies, though the concept can be used for nonprofits and other organizations), or workshop attendees, which may represent a variety of business sizes, lifecycle stages (startup, enterprise) and industries.
The Marketing Growth Hackathon workshop focuses on an accelerated planning model that helps marketers better leverage existing assets and opportunities to uncover quick wins.
The idea is to take one SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound) goal (e.g. generate 60 quote requests in Q2 2016) and come away from the workshop with a minimum of three campaign ideas that can be activated within 30 days and fully executed within 90 days.
A key differentiator to the model is that every campaign concept is identified visually as paid, owned, earned or integrated; and then rated—1 (poor), 2 (fair), 3 (moderate), 4 (good), 5 (excellent)—and charted based on two variables:
1. Ability to Execute (ATE): Ability to execute on a campaign concept based on the available tech, team, time and budget.
2. Impact Probability Rating (IPR): The probability that the campaign concept will impact the organization’s ability to reach its goal.
The Marketing Growth Hackathon brings together marketers, executives and entrepreneurs to solve business growth challenges. Attendees leave armed with a slew of resources, and inspired by ideas that are measurable, attainable, and above all, actionable.
