The name is taken from Mr Miyagi in the movie the karate kid. Mr Miyagi was handyman/martial arts master who agreed to teach a bullied boy karate and show him that there is more to the martial art than fighting. The same way we want to teach youth that there is more to "success" than school.
There are 2 psychographics for this organization.
1. The people donating money: These people have a profound sense of societal responsibility. They tend to be activistic, impassioned, and knowledgeable about the world around them. Many are attracted to simple living and the natural; some have taken up lives of voluntary simplicity. Many do volunteer work. Inner growth remains a crucial part of life.
2. The people wanting to join the program: They are the low-resource group of those who are motivated by achievements. They have values very similar to achievers but have fewer economic, social, and psychological resources. Style is extremely important to them as they strive to emulate people they admire.
The logo should speak to both.
I've asked people to guess what the foundation is about. Some get it right "helping youth" but some people assume it has something to do with Martial arts which is not the case. So I would rather there's no martial art component to the logo. Apart from that, I'm excited to see what you guys can come up with.
