We are a small press that publishes urban fantasy, grimdark fantasy and romance, edgy books that are provocative, don’t always follow strict genre conventions, and often touch on difficult themes. Ours is an adult audience, readers who can handle dark themes and unconventional characters.

The logo ideally needs to work in a black/white/grayscale format so that it can be printed on a variety of backgrounds and stand out. It’s a publisher’s logo, so it will go on a diverse range of book covers in a consistent spot on the spine, and we may need to alter the colors in order to give it visibility or code books of different sub-genres.

Diseño de inspiración
It’s important that the components of the logo can be printed on the spine and back of a book cover, so it needs to be versatile in the sense that we can, for example, use a black or a white version that can go on a dark or light background book. It also needs to look good on a website, on a business card, etc. The included example is a very, very rough, dirty mock up made inexpertly and should not be a strict basis of design but a jumping off point. The Raven is going to be one of our motifs, and the combination of the raven and the crescent moon together speak to the tone of our brand. We want a kind of ink-splash look to the main black component with either “Harbinger” or “Harbinger Press” incorporated into it in a way that retains versatility. Think about an old-world writer at a desk who spills an inkpot and the image of the logo is what stains the paper. The font is designer’s choice, but keep in mind that our brand is a little dark, but not horror. Think dark literary.
