RentYbuy is the eBay of the rental market. We are part of the collaborative revolution that lead to the formation of the sharing economy and is currently dominated by the likes of Wikipedia, Airbnb and Zipcars
We are passionate about minimizing waste in the world – both resource & capital. We do this by making it easier and cost effective to rent rather than buy.
Some of the benefits for using our services are;

5.Creating a sense of community by engaging neighbors.
We have named our business "rentYbuy". Why buy when you can rent was the thought behind naming it so.

Our target audience will be rental agencies, students, and individuals mostly between the age group of 16 to 45.
We operate in a peer-to-peer online spectrum.
We want to create a logo that aligns with our business and character of being a sustainable, community oriented and trustworthy. Also an important point to note while designing the logo is that make sure the “Y” in rentYbuy is distinct so that the “why” message is clearly articulated.
Because we will operate extensively in the social media space, we also need to have a moniker / icon or version of the logo that will work in a square space. Ie: TradeMe with their Kiwi and Taskrabbit with their Rabbit, GrabOne with their G and Xero with their entire logo, twiietr with the bird and facebook with the F & Pinterest with their P.
This Moniker or Icon will become the favicon on the website, the app icon and the social media logo.
Some of the features that we would like to see in the logo are listed below;
Memorable – highest recognition and recall
Including recognition at maximum distances
Timeless quality – the logo will not become dated
Appropriate for the product/service category
Has “breakthrough” quality, that is, it stands out in the midst of other logos
Reinforces the brand name or tagline or both
Evokes positive emotions
Has a positive brand association
The icon does not evoke negative or unintended associations among the target audiences
Fits in the spaces in which it will most likely appear – has the most advantageous (vertical/horizontal) orientation, is recognizable in small (e.g. business card) spaces
A version of it looks good in black and white
Works well with sub-brand or endorsed brand identities
