This logo will be used to communicate Sailfish SRS to the Australian Navy and potentially other Naval organisations around the world. Submarine rescue is considered to be an extremely serious issue and therefore designs that are whimsical or child-like would not be suitable.
Most Naval vessels have a crest and an icon and the universal symbol for submariners is twin dolphins. To wear "dolphins" is a symbol of commitment and rank for those who serve so is taken very seriously and the logo for Sailfish SRS should have a "nod" to this design but not be seen to be emulating it too closely.
The name "Sailfish" SRS was selected due to USS Sailfish, the name of the re-commissioned USS Squalus which was sunk in 1939. 26 lives where lost when this sub sank, though the subsequent rescue of all of the remaining 33 crew stands as one of the most successful submarine rescues in history.
The logo could potentially include a crest, braid, life-buoy or other sea "rescue" icon, "twin" sailfish...
