This end product will be used to represent a fire engine company at a suburban fire department. The target audience will include the general public specifically not something that would scare children and yet it needs to be mature enough to be relatable to a mainly adult male pear group.

I work at a fire department and we have been trying to come up with an engine company badge that we could put on our uniform so it should be simple enough to be produced on a sowing device and fit in an area approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. It doesn't have to fit in a traditional form such as a circle or triangle or box. The picture I have in mind of the logo is of the maltese cross acting as a shield off set at an angle and perhaps gently curved protecting the plantation house from fire which is in the shape of a dog. On the cross where the two banners are at top should be "The Dog Pound" and the bottom banner be "Protecting History". Then two more banners above and below the house; or the dog, cross and house that say "Saint Andrews Fire Department" or simply "SAFD" at top and "Engine 303" at bottom.
I understand that there will not necessarily be a lot of detail as opposed to the above pictures when all combined and that a sowing machine creating a badge can only do so much. I hope to be able to use this logo for other purposes in the station, on the fire engine, etc. I hope I have been helpful laying out my vision.
