Our core values guide and drive our work. Everything we do and every approach we take are in line with our core values rooted in meaningful change, cyclical learning, diversity and resilience. For every action we take we ask ourselves:
Does it provide meaningful change?
Is it within the biophysical capacity of the environment?
Does is promote the capacity to buffer change, learn and develop?
The name Tekiu was phonetically derived from the Nahuatl word tequio, which comes from the term téquitl meaning 'work'. For the Nahuatl tequio is an organized form of work for communal benefit. In essence, the members of a community contribute to a common goal by providing materials or labour to build or repair social infrastructure or institutions.
