jackson•appleton is a boutique video production company specializing in high-end commercial, corporate and broadcast video productions. We chose to use the names of our 2 key company members as our business name, since our success is very much based on the personal relationships we have created with our clients. We need an upscale, classy logo that says we can “play with the big boys,” but we also want it to represent that we are a CREATIVE business- we are video storytellers. Our struggle is that we are based in a rural area and are trying to reach big businesses in big markets. Our work stands up to the “big boys”- now we need to work on an image that gets that “big work.”
We often abbreviate our name as j•a, and you are welcome to incorporate that- almost as a symbol of sorts. We would like to be able to use the j-a separately for some applications. We’ve even considered a j that somehow swirls into an a. BUT, we do want the full jackson • appleton to appear on our main logo (even though it could be removed at times). We do like lower case fonts, but aren’t married to it.
Corporate Businesses, Advertising Agencies, Network Television
Non-negotiable Factors:
-Our logo must lend itself to animation
-We will frequently use the logo on a BLACK background, however, it will also be used on white for contracts, invoices, etc.
-Logo needs to work well embroidered on gear and clothes (black). Clean looks are best- not too intricate a design.
-We will need an Adobe Illustrator file of the logo
-We are hate cliché-looking, clipart logos.
Negotiable Factors:
- Currently, we have been writing our name as jackson•appleton. However, we are not married to the dot in between our names. Our web site and you tube channel has both names ran together as jacksonappleton.
-We like the colors: red, gray and white, but are not married to them. In fact, we embrace COLOR! We like primary colors, though- no maroon or hunter greens
- We love a clean, modern look, but we also enjoy a cool, retro feel. Nothing too high-techy looking. Surprise us!
--We may want a horizontal and vertical version of the logo to use for different media
- Do not feel like you must use stereotypical video production type art (clapperboards, cameras, film strips, lights). If you do use them, though, make sure it is in a creative, fresh way. However, NO FILM STRIPS (EVER)! FYI….we are known for our lighting.
-We hope to create a relationship with our logo designer. We need everything- cards, stationary, etc!
