I'm creating a new business, but as I have had business before, I understand the importance of first impressions! I need to be taken seriously, and most importantly- I need to build trust with my guests (clients) immediately. The words I would best use to describe my work (and me) is:
Sophisticated, but with a tendency to be rugged. Tailored black jacket with a pair of Italian leather combat boots. Organic, but with an attention to lines and detail. I love a straight lines like anybody, but I tend to be a bit more like organized chaos. Strong feminine. I'm not afraid of pink, or pink neon lights, or even the 80's. C'mon Eileen was often played followed by NIN on repeat, I admit it.
For my launch party, I plan on displaying floating walls hanging from brass chain. The floating walls are made of repurposed wood, black board floating off of the repurposed wood, and the work on white flat ledges (about 2" thick) randomly spaced. Elegant glass cases with either shiny brass trim or copper will be placed upon the ledges to allow the jewelry to be viewed. (A healthy mix of rugged and sophistication). Sparkling wine will be the beverage of choice and a live band will be playing (check out Savannah GA's Nickel Bag of Funk for reference). I hope to have it at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum in Savannah, GA.
Music that inspires the feel of future brick and mortar store:
M83, Foster the People, The Bravery, The Smiths, Tron Soundtrack, Muse, A-ha, The Cure.
My business name legally is Gillian Trask Design Inc., but I think Gillian Trask is enough (I'll create a sub-business). I'll let the designer decide, as I think the former is a bit too long for design ease.
Hopefully my website also shows some of my finished work and gives a good feel for the logo direction. gilliantraskdesign.com
I've attached additional images of my work including a painting I did, steel tools and a chasing and repousse chickadee in copper. On the red and silver brooches, the silver mesh was actually pantyhose that I casted and then cut. The pieces that will be for sale are some of the stackable rings and bangles on my hand in the first image, and the second to last silver organic cuff. The rest of the images are for the designer's reference.
