We help families grow gardens and raise food producing animals (goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits) in their backyards. We build raised beds, fences, animal enclosures. We weed gardens and take care of livestock when families are out of town. Our target audience is busy families who want to grow/raise food in their backyards but don't have time time or expertise to do it on their own. These are likely upper-middle class urban/suburban people who care about where their food comes from. They probably shop at Whole Foods.

The name "Victory Homesteading" plays off the Victory Gardens planted in neighborhoods during World War II. I'd like to play off that 1940s "Yes we can!" illustrative style. However, I do NOT want a logo that is overtly nationalistic. No American flags or anything like that. The logo needs to tone down any concerns customers might have about politics or aggression. "Homesteading" is often considered a bit "Laura Ingalls Wilder." I don't want that either. Putting the two words together, I want to suggest that homesteading is hip and cool, but also throwback. Finally, I will primarily use the logo in white on top of imagery. The colors need to be simple and monotoned. I like brands such as Danner Boots and Indian Motorcycles. Simplicity is key. I don't want a ton of illustration. Clean and word-based.
UPDATED 2/1/17: Please see uploaded references. Based upon the initial designs that are coming in, I'd like to shift the focus from gardening to animal husbandry. I really like the idea of a stacked logo that incorporates a silhouette of a duck or chicken standing on the back of a goat. One of the uploaded images shows animals standing on each other. Another one to look at is the chicken icon in the upper-left corner of a stacked logo (the Fresh Chicken logo).
