OUR MISSION We aim to provide a series of skills and knowledge for teenagers so that they are efficiently equipped to identify and productively address the unnecessary discomfort caused by topics deemed as “undiscussable” in the hope of maintaining a state of mental wellness. WHAT IS DISCUSSWELL? As an cohort of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (www.YPITulsa.com), we came to the conclusion that there was a stigma surrounding the mental wellness of teenagers that stemmed from a lack of openly known resources to address those needs. In order to fill this niche for classmates, friends, and teenagers as a whole, Cohort 13 concocted the idea of a curriculum based project that would focus on delivering knowledge that coincides with the identification and addressment of “undiscussables”. We hope to establish a series of skills that teenagers can easily practice in their day to day life that will not only help them maintain a state of mental wellness, but also provide a safe psychological environment outside of themselves for their support groups. DESIRED OUTCOMES Educate people on how to identify undiscussables Once you gain awareness of it, you can feel more in control Develop inner dependence Reframe- trying to look at things differently to see what good things came out of a struggle Not relying on external validation or sources for one’s happiness Take oneself seriously Not invalidate your own problems with comparison Maybe also to not take oneself too seriously Pursue trusted feedback Find an ally Be compassionate with yourself Realize you are human (not perfect) so its ok you don’t know everything Realize you won't always hit every mark you want or think is perfect Inventory of your assets Don’t forget what makes you great Identify what you can control and what you can’t control
