Our brand and business: Having a baby is one of the most exciting, yet daunting and challenging things you’ll ever do in your life. My husband and I are at that intersection of life at the moment and when we asked our friends what we HAVE TO buy, the answer always was: “you need muslins, a lot of muslins”. For all non-parents, muslins are durable and absorbent cotton cloths that you use to wipe up sick, poo, blood, sweat and tears. There are many manufacturers and suppliers of muslins in the UK but no real go-to brand. The designs are often cutsie and tired. Let’s face it, it’s you who has to like the design and who will be seen with it, as the baby is unlikely to care just yet. What’s more, most muslins are poor quality, thin, and made in China. This is what we’re here to change. The brand name “Oopsie Baby” is meant to put a smile on parent’s faces when the small oopsies happen in your daily life with your new baby. We will responsibly produce high quality, beautifully designed, organic muslins in Europe. The designs will appeal to Mums and Dads equally. Our target audience: The primary target audience is parents who are after quality and design for products that the baby is in touch with daily to mop up life’s little mishaps. The secondary target audience are friends and family of the parents who are looking to make a gift not only to the baby but also to the parents. Many people struggle to buy presents for babies: what’s the right size, is this gender neutral enough or do the parents want pink/blue, can the baby already play with this or are they too young…Like our friends told us “you can never have too many muslins” We will retail our products exclusively online What we want customers to think/feel/do: Think: Finally a brand that makes muslins that appeal to me, too. Feel: Intrigued to read more about Oopsie Baby’s values and products. Do: Buy a muslin for themselves or for a friend. Apart from caring for design and quality, we also care about our society and feel that too many things are just thrown away too quickly. Also, having grown up with just one parent, we want to support single parents in the UK with a % of every sale of a muslin going towards donating muslins to single parents in need. And after you’re done with your muslin, we will donate your used muslins to animal shelters around the UK. Stylistic preferences Like we said in our intro, we feel that too many baby brands are too cute and frankly quite kitsch. Everything for girls is either pink with little bows and baby ducks and everything for boys is blue with cars and firemen. Equally, buying unisex baby clothes is no fun. Is grey with stars really the only option? Surely not. We try to live a minimalist lifestyle, avoiding too much clutter at home and of course for our baby in the future. Therefore, we’re naturally drawn to quite minimalist designs. • Colors Whilst we want the patterns of our muslins to be quite bolt in their designs (what’s wrong with a leopard print muslin to wipe up poo?), we do like pastel colours and minimalist design cues… all except for pale pink and pale blue of course. • Logo font We’re open to different type font treatments and we like fine-lines. A watch-out for hand-written type styles is legibility. It can’t be too clever and illegible.
