The Spicebush Company grows, processes, and markets food products derived from the Spicebush plant, Lindera Benzoin. Products include herbal teas, and dried berries (used as a spice). Our target audience is high-end professional chefs, foodservice providers, and sophisticated home cooks. What is Spicebush? Spicebush is an understory shrub native to Appalachian forest woodlands. It typically grows in moist ravines near small creeks and streams. The leaves and dried berries of the Spicebush plant have been harvested and used as herbal teas and culinary spices by native inhabitants for thousands of years. However, Spicebush was neglected by European colonizers, who preferred the use of the exotic imported spices to which they had become familiar. Spicebush fell out of favor except among small, isolated Appalachian communities. The vision of The Spicebush Company is to develop commercial production systems and markets for Spicebush products, thereby creating economic opportunity for those communities in which Spicebush grows and can be processed. Our products are not cheap. Our target demographics are upper-income households, high-end restaurants, boutique grocery stores, essential oil distillers, and foodservice companies servicing those end users. Our logo should reflect this. We need a simple logo that quickly communicates our values without being cartoonish or childish. This is a "serious" product for "serious" foodies who desire the most interesting, exotic, rare, and delicious foods in their kitchens, and will settle for nothing but the absolute finest ingredients of the highest quality. People who eat goose and know what "demi-glaze" means. They and their customers are highly discerning. Think turmeric more than basic pepper. If you could to design the official logo for Cloves, or Turmeric, or Saffron, what would it look like? Think that way, but a bit earthier, something that communicates the rootedness of our product.

Nothing specific. I envision earthy, woody tones, but I'm certainly not an expert in this field. I would suggest reviewing the spice aisle at a local grocery store. Find a combination of colors that would stand out on that shelf, while still being serious and sophisticated.
