History Hit currently produces four different award-winning weekly audio history podcasts which are available on iTunes. The podcasts are streamed over 1 million times a month. The company also has a vibrant history community on Facebook with 65,000 active fans.
We are shortly going to launch a new global subscription “video on demand” TV channel which we hope becomes "the Netflix of History". Like Netflix, the channel will be available on your phone, tablet device, desktop and TV sets.
The channel will offer quality history shows curated and created by respected historians to give our members world-class history information, education and entertainment
The target demographic for the channel is 35-55 year old ABC1 male/female fans of history and factual documentaries. We would ultimately like to grow a younger audience. In fact, we'd like to see it possibly become the "Vice" of history.
Our fans are already spenders on history – books, holidays and heritage visits.
Our content strategy will be lead by what’s popular: World War 2, Romans/Ancients, Medieval Castles, Victorians, WW1 etc.
The service will have a mixture of great licensed content with new & original programmes from the world’s most prominent historians whom we have access to via our co-founder Dan Snow who is a famous British TV history expert.
As a result of this exciting new launch, we're going to refresh our current logo because we think that it's too masculine and doesn't tell our brand story.
So what is our purpose?
Our purpose is to ensure the human race has an unbiased record of its history.
We believe that we need history more than ever to help make sense of a world filled with fake news, conflict, and politicians whom are re-writing history for their own benefit.
