We are trying to go for a similar late night, serious, classic, luxurious look - but with one or two elements that are clearly very nerdy and playful (like a gaming controller, something in 8-Bit etc.)
The only elements we DO want: Something that says "Tie" or "Bow-tie" or "Suit" - doesn't need to be all of that. It could just be a tie and none of the rest.
We also want to keep "gaming element" - but it doesn't need to be a controller like this necessarily. It could be a more retro one, a joystick, 8-Bit elements,...
1. Right now most designs are very flat, 2D, minimalisitic, and extremly clean. That's one way it could go. But we are also looking for FRESH, NEW STUFF! That's why we are here!
Make it 3D - make it handdrawn - whatever. We are mainly looking for more complex things. If you look at Gladiator, Almost Human or Prizamed examples we selected, you can see that they have a little more detail in their drawings. What I mean is, that they are not as "flat" as what we are seeing thus far.
2. We are seing a lot of designs with top hats in them - it's a nice idea, and we don't want do discourage you coming up with new ideas, however it doesn't really fit with us.
Top hats, monocles etc. are more in the direction of "Victorian England" - we are a little more modern then that. Think more a great looking business style like a Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother and less a gentleman from the old west.
3. We have several submissions that have glasses in them. We get where that comes from - being "nerdy" usually means having glasses, pimples etc.
This however is exactly the image we are trying to get away from. We wear a suit and a tie to show "Hey, liking Marvel Movies and playing games is mainstream now. Many people like this stuff these days, it's no longer something that you get shoved in a locker for if you like it".
If you want to go for something that's not just black&white - the only other color we use is gold.
We are looking for something completely new with the font - something with more "movement" like a bend (see the Piamsook, Gladiator or Online Fabriek examples).
Please also keep in mind that we might want to animate the logo for our intro - so having separate elements that could move together and form the logo in an intro would be ideal.
Our show also has many sub-formats/segments that each have their own logo. These will have to be upgraded down the road - so if this goes well we might be looking for more designs from you in your style in the future.
