Green Corfu
GreenCorfu.com is a website that wants to promote a different Corfu, a Corfu that is not so well known either to Greeks or to people from all over the world. Corfu is a touristic island but has more to offer than golden sandy beaches, sun and a crystal clear blue sea. Corfu is a green island, because of its lush vegetation all year round, full of olive trees, cypresses, and a wealth of other plants, insects, birds and animals.
There are a lot of initiatives promoting alternative tourism on Corfu. Things like walking, cycling, horse riding and meditation holidays. Especially walking and meditation are hot items.
There are also many people producing local products, ranging from organic olive oil, vegetables, fruit and things such as jams, preserves, honey and olive oil soap to artifacts made from olive wood, glass, leather and other forms of art.
There is a whole alternative community forming on the island, oriented towards a natural way of living, contact with and respect for nature, away from consumerism and the hectic way of life of the western world.
We are trying to bring together in one website all the above initiatives and enhance cooperation between people, as well as advertising this to the outside world.
Visit our current website at http://www.greencorfu.com for more info. The website is continually being expanded.
Our target audience consists mainly of:
- tourists searching for a different way to spend their holidays.
- foreigners living in Corfu who are looking for something different.
- Greeks who are looking for something different.
Geographically, I think most of our target group come from western Europe and specifically Germany, Holland, Scandinavian countries, Switzerland and Austria but also Italy, other European countries, USA and (probably more in the future) Russia, China and Japan. Of course Greeks are also part of our target group.
The site is already translated in Greek, the next languages we are going to implement are German and Dutch.
As far as age is concerned, I think the main audience is between 30 and 60, but there will also be younger and older people interested.
We want a logo that communicates green, alternative holidays, but not in a too commercial way. A better way to describe it might be alternative holidays (and maybe an alternative way of life) for alternative people. Nature is another important concept.
The name of the website makes it tempting to base the logo on a map of Corfu painted green, but this has already been used too often by other companies, so we are looking for something more original... If you could incorporate such a map in the logo in an original way it would be nice of course, but I don't think it will be easy.
Green will definitely be one of the colours of the logo, feel free to use one or more additional colours.
The logo will be used on the website, but also on cards and posters and should not be too complicated.
Looking forward to many great entries!
