The first logo above is stolen from the Australian Midwives group and I absolutely adore it. The watercolor look is very appealing. I appreciate that the color is neutral, but not drab. It has depth. It would work well in many formats. The abstract style itself is also appealing, as we are 95% pregnancy and babies, so we do love the Australian logo in that it can represent either a pregnant belly or breast, but isn't too obvious. However, we don't want to turn away women who are not pregnant, or even menopausal women (causing them to assume we only catch babies).
The second logo above is my current logo. I fell in love with the inspiration of the artist - Mom looking up to God for direction, Sun behind the mother for Jesus Christ, and the bottom of her skirt in fire as the Holy Spirit - all with the warm embrace of a mother. I wasn't in love with the visual appearance, but felt with this sort of inspiration it was sort of meant to be. You can see on my website however, that I don't really use it.
This logo does not need such symbolism. In fact, I'd prefer it be more simple and professional - yet also unique and beautiful. Simple elegance.
