MIME Records is an independent record label company operating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Nashville, initially targeting artists in the greater Nashville area (but not exclusively so). MIME Records takes a new and creative approach to developing, promoting and managing our artists. We combine a data-driven approach, a fanatical work ethic, strong ideas and creative strategies to maximize our artists’ success. Our performance-oriented approach means we work harder than traditional indie labels to ensure maximum “discoverability” and financial success for our artist clients.

MIME stands for ‘Music Is My Escape’. We believe music has the power to provide an escape from the mundane, the empty, the trials of life, while also having the power to move the soul, inspire the heart, and elicit the full spectrum of human emotion.
MIME’s dual meaning is also a reference to mime artists, who as entertainers seek to delight their audiences and perhaps provide an “escape” if even for a moment. Finally, we believe the letters conjure up images of the reflective nature of a mime artist creating the illusion of a window or wall.
Currently we’d like to see a wide diversity of ideas, so designers should feel a liberal amount of flexibility in creative execution. However, if pressed, we imagine a preference for dark neutrals (black and white) with some red incorporated as well. We would like the word MIME to be the largest and most featured aspect of the logo. We prefer bold minimalism and geometric designs. For at least one execution, we would like to see if incorporating some reference to a mime artist might work within the logo (ex. 2 white gloves). Another might incorporate a very stylized reference to musical notes, guitar strings, piano keys, pick or other. Finally, at least one cursive version would be desired.
However, as mentioned, we are flexible in our vision for the logo and would prefer to see a diversity of ideas. We are even open to ideas that do not include a mime reference but instead focus more heavily on the word itself.
