When talking to a prospective client, who are small nonprofits with operating budgets roughly between 1-5 million and have diverse social missions, Mission Control Center asks:
Are you spending too much time and money on operational activities? And, would you rather focus those resources on your important mission and programs?
Mission Control Center helps nonprofit organizations focus their efforts on mission-centric activities by providing a comprehensive, sustainable and scalable, operational and support platform that saves nonprofits time and money. Our platform allows these mission-centric organizations to solve the worlds problems, whilst we make sure their organization continues to operate effectively.
From the very beginning, Mission Control Center has been a collaboration between the nonprofit marketplace and skilled, for-profit professionals with a passion for serving the nonprofit sector.
As a membership-driven organization, our three founding members (nonprofits clients of SUM Innovation) had been looking for a way to provide centralized and efficient back-office solutions to everything from payroll to health insurance to IT. SUM Innovation, the accounting services provider for these founding members, saw an opportunity to help in a more comprehensive way.
So, Mission Control Center was itself established a a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to address this problem.
We’re cooperative and collaborative. Our board is composed of members of the nonprofit organizations we serve as well as our professional service providers.
One of the greatest features of this organization is that the Mission Control Center also serves as a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). A PEO allows smaller organizations to be a part of a larger organization to negotiate for better health insurance premiums and other coverage options that are not available or are cost prohibitive for small organizations.
A PEO is essentially an outsourced human resources department and provides payroll and benefits administration services as well as assistance with organizational compliance. Specifically, a PEO is a co-employment relationship. PEO becomes the Employer of Record and is responsible for your organization’s payroll, payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, and other HR-related issues.
The full range of services, in addition to the PEO component, includes: Finance & Accounting Services with a focus on improved compliance & management reporting; Operational, IT & Administrative Assistance through our back-office team; And, Strategic Planning, Fundraising & Marketing Support as part of the overall collaborative, led by our team of Nonprofit Experts.
