We would like a logo for our rebar installation construction company.
We install reinforcing steel in concrete structures, primarily bridges, but also sewer plants, electrical plants, box culverts, and other structures.
As a general outline, we are looking for a bold, solid, and stylized font of our company name IRON WORKS to be integrated into the design itself, rather than off to one side. An idea that we have had, and liked, is for lines across the top and bottom of the text IRON WORKS joining the letters together at various points to call extra attention to the text (sample image included).
As an example, we have provided a very rough mockup of several ideas we have had for our logo. These design guidelines are by no means mandatory for submissions, and are meant only to illustrate where our thinking has been about this emblem.
Design elements that come to mind are the hand tools that we use (images included), tie wire and reinforcing steel/rebar (images included), and hard angles and lines for aesthetic additions.
Keywords that come to mind are "Framing" "Boldness" "Simplicity" "Hard" and "Metal".
We would like to avoid color gradients in the final image (with an exception), for reasons explained below.
We would like this design to be transferrable across multiple media - wallpaper, stationery, shirts, jackets, and lapel pins/insignia. We ask that submissions therefore be designed with an eye towards ease of work for apparel and pin designers, with break points around overlapping design elements so that the aforementioned designers need not worry about cutting aspects of the design out in order to weave or carve their work. This is particularly important for the apparel designers, as our logo will be embroidered, and not screen printed on our company jackets.
For that reason, simple, solid colors are best for this design, but *not* mandatory, so long as there is a version of the logo included with a winning image that uses simple solid colors for the above-mentioned purposes, we are fine with any number of colors in the primary image.
If these conditions are not feasible for the artist, gradients must be excluded from an image submission.
We do not want text beyond our company name in the image. We want the design to frame and draw attention to the company name alone. We have a strong reputation in our corner of the industry and we feel that our name alone ought to say all that needs be said of us.
