What is this brief for?: Guide contestants to design the main page for a new list sharing and social recommendation site called snagsta.com. The page must convey the energy and excitement of this new type of website that will help people find about things they will probably like but may never heard of.

Brand values This is how our target market should feel/think after they have used our website: + Useful â€“ This site is a helpful resource that helps me get more out of life. + Friendly - This site is like an old, trusted friend. + Informal â€“ This site doesnâ€™t feel corporate and doesnâ€™t make me feel as if just completed a banking transaction. + Clever / smart â€“ This site is techie enough to impress the blogging community but isnâ€™t too techie that it makes me (an infrequent internet user) feel overwhelmed or inadequate. Our name We chose the name snagsta as it we wanted to highlight a key functionality of the list sharing site; a feature that will allow our users to â€œsnagâ€ (or grab or capture) stuff from other usersâ€™ lists. Each time a list is â€œsnaggedâ€, the list is credited with a â€œsnag pointâ€. The more snag points a list has, the more useful we assume it is. Target audience Although this market size comprises a diverse set of customers our target segment can be described by the following phrases: + Busy people that are very much in control (money, work and play) and live life to the full, developing their careers, managing family commitments and maintaining an active social life + 25-35 years old Â + Cash rich, time poor Â + Sophisticated, knowledgeable, gregarious and confident people Â + Good circle of close, long term friends Â + Ambitious, well-educated and well-travelled Â + Active members of vertical communities (e.g. climbing, biking) Â + Technical capable â€“ early adopters + Disposable income but still price/value conscious. Desired look and feel We are looking for a clean, bold look. For us, less is definitely more. In terms of design influences, think Ipod, think chic bar, think cool, laid-back music youâ€™ve never heard before but really like. A white background behind all body text is a must. However, use of bold supporting colours will be welcomed. We like the idea of using a limited number of tones to create a vivid and striking first impression. We want the site to be designed so that it doesnâ€™t overshoot left or right for our users with screen resolutions of 1024 x 768 Some sites we like: We like http://www.fubo.com because of the powerful brand one strong colour creates. but that does not necessarily mean we like green. there is definitely too much black for our taste. http://www.last.fm we really like the way the boxes/panels appear â€˜liftedâ€™ off the background by the shadowing. We like how the body text appears on white panels on a darker background (grey is good but other colours might work too). Again, we donâ€™t necessarily like the pink. We like the clean and simple looks of: Facebook, Google, Flickr and Linkedin however, they are a bit similar so a design with something extra will hit the mark.
