Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA)
Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) is a non-profit advocacy organization that funds and directs research to find treatments for Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA), a devastating degenerative neuromuscular disease. FARA has distinguished itself among the hundreds of known rare diseases by developing a highly collaborative community of researches, doctors, patients and families, as well as other related disease advocacy groups. While FARA’s focus is scientific research, the small, high-touch organization remains accessible to its patients and families. It brings them hope by keeping them informed about research progress and providing opportunities for them to contribute through participation in clinical trials and fundraising. FARA is highly repected among the research and medical community.
The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance’s (FARA) mission is to marshal and focus the resources and relationships needed to cure FA by raising funds for research, promoting public awareness and aligning scientists, patients, clinicians, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies and other organizations dedicated to curing FA and related diseases.
FARA’S Guiding Principles: Wisdom, Caring, Urgency, Quality, Spirit, Integrity
A key phrase: “Acting alone, there is very little any of us can accomplish. Acting together, there is very little we will NOT accomplish”
FARA communicates with potential and current donors, patients and their families, Hospitals, Universities, Researchers and Scientists, Doctors, Government Agencies, Foundations, Pharmaceutical Companies and the General Public.
This new brand identity will be part of a mass-awareness program that will deliver the FARA story throughout the US and around the globe. Concurrently, the organization will be launching a branded athletic event to attract the general public and engage it in its fundraising activities.
The FARA logo appears on all printed and electronic communications. Website: http://www.curefa.org
Uses: brochures, posters, electronic presentations, newsletter, fundraising materials and many other event-specific publications.
Our goal is a new logo/identity that retains some connection to the present logo. There is a growing worldwide population that is accustomed to the current logo and we do not wish to lose the brand recognition that we’ve developed.
Current logo is too playful. It does not demonstrate the seriousness of our cause or our work(primarily, cutting edge scientific research). It implies that we serve only children. FA afflicts people of all ages.
Ultimately, this logo will also need to work with various branded event identities. See http://www.rideataxia.org
Requirements: B&W 2-color and 4-color options. Print, web and jpeg formats.
