As a discipline, engineering is very conservative. This is because one of its major considerations is reducing risk in design, construction, use, health and safety, environment, etc. As a result, our competitive environment is saturated with conservative looking, blue-based logos. To stand apart, WML needs to break with the blue mould while simultaneously conveying our technical expertise and personal accessibility.
In terms of design style, we would like to see SOME examples where the letterforms of WML are somehow integrated into a shape that relates to engineering—either the outputs or the activities of the profession. We are aware that the W and the M “fight” with each other visually. For this reason, the designer will likely need to find or adapt a typeface to come up with a harmonious WM letter pairing where the letters nest together without the extraneous triangle of white space between them.
Please DO NOT restrict your designs to JUST the letters W, M, and L. Please look through the capability documentation uploaded with the brief to get a good feel for the firm and what it does.
Colour files should print with adequate contrast when sent to monochrome printers. Must work in multiple formats from CAD drawings to reports, brochures, clothing, vehicles, etc. EPS or native AI files required.
