Missions of Hope International (MOHI) is a Christ-centered, non-governmental organization that serves orphaned and vulnerable children, their families and others in the Mathare Valley slums of Nairobi and other disadvantaged communities throughout Kenya. MOHI’s goal is to alleviate the effects of extreme poverty by empowering individuals to transform their families and communities.
Our strategy is very holistic. We have four main pillars/programs (Educate, Empower, Restore, Redeem) Each has its own focus but they are very integrated. Combined, these pillars/programs result in holistic transformation.

To transform lives through the hope of Christ in disadvantaged communities in Kenya and beyond
We serve in one of the worst slums in Kenya
We serve in rural, impoverished communities
We are founded by, and led by Kenyans
We are staffed by Kenyans
We focus on the children first. Children provide an entry point to the family, and a family provides an entry point to the community.
We are holistic, meaning we focus on all aspects of the person, family, community. It’s great if a child is in school, but if they have neglectful parents at home, we need to work with the parents also.
We use child sponsorship as a tool
Primary: Christians in the US
