Since the sport is obscure, the logo should give some idea of what the sport is, not be just an animal. So it helps if it has a polo kayak and/or a paddle and/or a ball in it. It's higher priority for the graphic to explain the sport than for it to be a mascot. But if both is possible, that's ideal.
Since we're the aquabats, a bat theme of some kind,
not too close to the austin ice bats though (see attached image). But if you have a brilliant other idea, go for it.
One other thing, we wear helmets with face masks during play, so you could use that in the image, or not. Just food for thought.
You can google kayak polo to see what the special kayak polo kayaks look like, and the helmets. Do not use any other type of kayak if you show a kayak.
The paddle blade shape, if shown, should be similar to the picture attached.
The ball, if shown, should be a standard yellow water polo ball (google mikasa for images). Or, maybe, a caricature of the ball made from a yellow armadillo, as shown in our earlier logo (the longhorn one).
We will use the logo on the side of our trailer, blown up 4 feet across. Therefore it needs to be very high resolution, or an illustrator/EPS file.
That version can be full color. Also, if it matters, the trailer is white.
It will also be used later on t-shirt designs, so we'd like a version with
just a few colors for that.
As far as the shape of the logo - we are open.
