Clock Funeral Home - Cremations, Celebrations and Funerals
Gather Together, Share the Stories, Celebrate a Life, Heal the Heart
Families have moved away from traditional funeral services with caskets and burials to cremations and Memorial services. Over half of the 450 families that called us last year did not have any type funeral/gathering/memorial service or they had the event on their own without any assistance from the funeral home. We need to market to those people that we can affordably help them with the events that they need to have.
This is My Philosophy:
The true value of a funeral is the gathering together of people and sharing stories.
After a loss we, as human beings, need the physical contact and connection we get when we gather together. And at those gatherings we always tell stories. It is through those stories that we show our respect, our support and our love for one another. It is through those stories and the laughter and the tears and the hugs that we celebrate a life that has been lived. And it is through that gathering and those stories that our heart begins to heal.
Our job at Clock Funeral Home is to make that gathering easy and comfortable for families. It’s our job to help them share their stories and help other people share stories with the family. We do that by helping them write a Life Story. We scan photos. We produce videos and slide shows and photo collages that tell that story. We provide a wonderful space where they can easily display their loved ones things that help tell the story of that life. A space where people can gather and mingle and eat and share. We provide sounds systems. We provide Video equipment for presentation and for recording the event. (And yes, we take care of the dead person too.) All at very affordable prices.
We need a complete package to help us tell this story to the public. Logo. Website, brochures.
I am looking for easy to read fonts and graphics/photos that are hip but appealing to the middle of the market crowd. Bold but not too edgy. I don’t want anything that conveys the common thoughts and feeling about funeral homes. We are not guys in black suits who talk low and slow and have pasty white skin. Our facility is hip and airy and bright. And we a regular folks with kids and dogs. We wear blue jeans and drink beer and watch football .
We are located in Muskegon, Michigan which is located on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. Our community is a blue collar, hard working group of people. Not real fancy, who prefer national brand restaurants. More than half of the community does not attend church.
For the last 7 years we have been a member of the Life Story Network (LSN) of funeral homes. LSN has a wonderful system that helps us produce and amazing suite of products; written Life Story (http://www.lifestorynet.com/memories/85870), Color memory Folders, memory pages on their web site, videos and other printed material. We even added the words “Life Story” to our name.
Unfortunately the Life Story Network has failed to effectively market themselves to the public to create the brand they still hope to be. So, although we will continue be members of LSN, we are returning to our original name “Clock Funeral Home”. (Clock is my family name and we have been in the funeral business since 1897.) We still need to say that we are members of the Life Story Network on all material and signage/logos but it just needs to be an add-on.
